Solo Female Travel

The topic of solo female travel is of utmost importance and a topic of itself, separated yet aggregated to the “common” safety concerns that every tourist and traveler may have when visiting a foreign country, with its national government, crime ratings, diverse culture, and social norms and expectations.

It is said that over 70% of solo travellers are women. This statistic should be taken with a grain of salt and is misleading for a variety of reasons (for example, the data is taken from official tour operator bookings, where female travellers tend to join group tours because of safety concerns).

What is certain though is that, even in couples, family, or group travel, females tend to do more research and make the overwhelming majority of all travel-related decisions when planning and booking trips.

Getting out of the comfort zone is arguably one of the main joys of solo travel. However, knowledge is power, and being able to assess the various risks that come with being in an foreign environment is a fundamental skill that needs to be acquired and goes beyond mere instinct.

The information contained here should be a helpful resource to solo female travellers, aiding them in navigating the complexity of solo travel.
