City Escapes

Throughout human history, mankind has increasingly amassed within cities. From primordial settlements to large multicultural metropolises, cities are an entirely unique travel destination. Cities define our modern way of life and arguably contain everything that a country has to offer. From their infrastructures to the people and cultures all condensed within a relatively small space, cities are a unique human wonder.

City escapes can be stressful and a hassle. Also, they tend to be very expensive. Usually done in very few days, people usually try to cram everything that “needs” to be seen in the brief period of time they have. Spending a weekend in cities such as Rome, New York City, Sydney, or Amsterdam and trying to see everything usually leads to travel burnout.

I always try to visit cities, trying to take at least one full or half day to just stay in a single spot (usually a cafe or bar) and just observe the people, trying to absorb through osmosis the cultural vibes and peculiarities.
